12 Benefits of Healthy Boundaries

Healthy boundaries are essential for one's health & well-being, but how many of us were informed about boundaries as a child? Establishing healthy boundaries is very important for parents & children. When parents have healthy boundaries, they are happier, less stressed, & better able to meet the special needs of their children. What emotions do you prefer in those around you, someone who is feeling joyful or resentful? When we lose ourselves & do not have healthy boundaries, we are more prone to resentment & burnout. This is not good for our health or the health of our children. To celebrate the 12 days of Christmas, we are sharing the 12 benefits of healthy boundaries.

As we enter this holiday season, be mindful of how you are balancing your needs and the needs of others around you. Ensure you are "filling your bucket" to give to others from your energetic overflow, not reserve. Be a model to your child (especially important for our highly sensitive children), showing them how to be mindful of how to self-modulate, so they are not overwhelmed or exhausted at the end of the day. This can be taking a few deep breaths during transitions, balancing quiet moments between shopping in crowded malls, or taking a walk during loud family gatherings to decompress.

During our December Parenting Tools Monthly Monday Meetup, we engaged in a live & engaging dialog about boundaries. Listen to the audio recording below.
